Details on the pitch

"When I asked Montgomery and Norman which one was better, several senior players said they had their own preferences. Some like the carpeted, carefully-maintained grass at Montgomery, others the dune links at Norman. There was no choice, so when we got to da nang, we had to fight both."

Montgomerie-linkgolf course

Opening date: 2009

Holes: 18

Par: 72

Lane length: 7,063 yards

Designer: colin Montgomery

Address: Dien Ngoc Ward, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province

The Montgomery bay course is the first in Asia to be named after Montgomery's designer. To protect his reputation, Montgomery again asked IMG, an experienced international company, to manage the course, which during the trial period was rated as the best new course in Asia in 2009. Located in 200 meters away from the shore dune field, maintain perfect, the style of a European bay stadium was born in Scotland in the Montgomery successful introduction of Vietnam, floor with morphological petaloid bunkers, shallow after deep before modelling, greatly small together, plus young fine white sand, such as powder, even in the sandpit save will be a pleasure.

3.jpg

Three quarters of the Montgomery links course is covered in grass, with 14 holes of artificial water barriers. Montgomery links fairway undulating, but many bunkers, the entire layout of as many as 110 bunkers. The bunkers are shaped like flower petals, shallow in front and deep in back, combined in size. The 572 yard par 5 has UP to 12 bunkers, and it's recommended to wear sunglasses when pushing UP the green. The par-five hole was named the best par-five hole in Vietnam by Vietnam golf magazine in 2009.

4.jpg

Experience: the Montgomery links pitch has a good overall rhythm. The start was a straight par 5, with the first and second fairways left and center bunkers. The no. 5 hole is just over 100 yards long, but there is a circular bunker between the smaller depth of the green and the large water barrier. From the sixth hole, the sharp teeth of the course began to show. There is a large water barrier on the left and front of the green. This was followed by two difficult par fours, the no. 8 bunker, which was effectively protected, and the no. 9 hole, which only big gunners can hope to mark ON. On monty's course, players who are good at FADE will be more likely to do well. But monty also took into account that most amateurs have a drop zone around the green for errant players to save.

Danang golf club

Opening date: April 30, 2010

Holes: 18

Par: 72

Fairway length: 7,160 yards

Designer: Greg Norman designs

Address: Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang City, Vietnam

The great white shark has won the praise of GOLF MAGAZINE, one of the best 15 new courses in the world, shortly after its completion. The design concept of the course is based on the bay course, but there is no lake as the barrier, and there are many bunkers and long grass barriers. The style is very rough, the 148-yard par 3 16th is the signature hole of the course, the only one in da nang with a view of the south China sea. But when the wind is strong, it can be difficult.

5.jpg

Experience: with Montgomery, the course is exquisitely crafted and the lousa is small. The difference is that Greg Norman has retained most of the original dunes, creating a dune course with a strong links style that is more visually appealing to players.

6.jpg

Anyone who has played a Norman design course knows that bunkers are the theme of the course and there are very few holes that require blind opening. Most fairways are covered by rolling bunkers and the greens are more choppy, so hitting the green on the right end often leads to a steep putt or awkward downhill cut. For example, the signature hole of the course is 16 holes. The 148-meter long par-3 hole is behind the south China sea. On a clear day, champa island can be seen from the tee about 15 kilometers away. Between the steep 16-hole green to the right and the 17-hole tee is a French colonial bunker, where history and reality mingle. Unfortunately, on the first Norman course, the birdie on the downhill right side had a chance to slip through.

7.jpg

Purely from the perspective of landscape, this course has a number of bright spots. The right side of the green at no. 2 is heavily guarded by bunkers. The 630-yard par-five no. 10 fairway is flanked by towering sand dunes, and after crossing the dogleg right and left, the battery green awaits you in the distance. The 14th hole was a 319-yard par four, tempting the gunners to attack. The 479-yard Par four serves as a finisher, a tough Par.

9.jpg

10.jpg
